  • Half cup unsalted softened butter
  • One and a half teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Two cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted
  • Two tablespoons milk
  • Three drops food colouring, or as needed (optional)

How to Make Buttercream Frosting at Home?

  1. Beat the melted butter at room temperature with the help of a wooden spatula, if making it in a bowl. Beat this butter until it is smooth and fluffy, and while beating the butter, keep adding sugar, bit by bit. Also after all the sugar is in the bowl, at this point add vanilla extract.
  2. Keep beating the butter and sugar mix and pour some of the milk in this. Beat for another three to four minutes. Add food colouring, only if you want and beat for another thirty seconds till the time the texture is all smooth or till the time you have achieved your desired colour.

How to Use this Frosting?

Well, take a piping bag with a nozzle of your desired choice and fill up this frosting. Keep in the freezer for three to four minutes to let it set for good results. Now, decorate that yummy cupcake or that luscious cake you have baked. Make patterns like swirls, grass, roses, or daisy flower and your yummy cake is all set to be served.
