Chocolate truffles exoticism

Chocolate truffles are a powerful force in this world. The only problem with chocolate truffles is its intense sweet and dense flavours. If your partner is not fond of chocolates then this can be a rather unfortunate pick. So, the first thing that you must be mindful of is whether or not your partner is a big chocolate truffle addict. Try to find that out and only then buy a choco truffle cake from the bakery of your choosing. For the rest of you whose partner loves intense but low on the sweet ratio chocolate truffle desserts, here is a pre devised solution that your dark chocolate craving partner will find equally appealing – Double Chocolate Truffle Cake.

Let us break this down for you: Double (meaning better), Chocolate (meaning got your partner’s attention), Truffle (now your dearest is drooling), Cake (perfect dessert for celebrating anniversary, birthday and other special events). So without further ado, here is the chocolate dessert recipe that will activate drools!

Double chocolate truffle cake recipe

Servings: 8 – 10

Flavourings: 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate
Baking elements: ⅔ cup sugar
¾ cups flour, sifted
Refrigerated: 4 eggs – separated
Oils & dairy: ¾ cup butter, softened and cubed
Spices & addons:
(Rich Chocolate Topping)
⅓ cup of superfine sugar
⅓ cup evaporated milk
¼ cup butter, softened
4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted

Baking procedure:

  • Place chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave at half power for 3 to 3 and ½ minutes, and stir every 30 to 40 seconds, until smooth and melted. Set aside to cool.
  • In a separate bowl mix together butter and sugar, continue mixing while adding egg yolks and melted chocolate until completely smooth.
  • Fold sifted flour into chocolate mixture.
  • Beat the egg whites separately. Then pour the mixture in the mixing bowl and fold egg whites into the chocolate mixture, being careful not to over mix, continue folding until white streaks are gone.
  • Prepare a 9 inch (break out the tape measure) spring form pan by buttering the bottom and sides and then sprinkle with cocoa powder. Shake off the excess cocoa powder. Spread the batter evenly in the pan, then bake in a preheated oven at 350° F for 35 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Let cool on a wire rack. Once cool, place on a serving plate, and spread chocolate topping on the sides and top. Refrigerate before serving (because otherwise it is hot).

Making the Rich Chocolate Topping:

1. Mix and cream the sugar and butter, then stir in the evaporated milk. Continue stirring until it forms an even smooth mixture. Set aside for 5 minutes until topping stiffens a bit and reaches a good consistency to spread. Spread topping on the sides and top of the cake.

2. For a spectacular dessert arrangement, cut the cake into serving size slices and serve on oversized dessert plates that have been dusted with cocoa powder. Toppings of fruits is optional, though strawberries are the most common toppers for truffle delights.
