Either you have tried baking it on your own or visited some<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bakingo.com\/\">cake shop<\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which had got so many different varieties of lip-smacking cakes. But have you tried or heard of moon cake? We are pretty sure you are pretty clueless as we were when we first found out this delicious variety of Chinese cake. Moon cake is a popular Chinese dessert item which is served during the mid-autumn festival which falls on August 15th as per the Chinese Lunar calendar. As August isn\u2019t that far away, let\u2019s discuss how to bake a mooncake at home with much precision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PREP TIME<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>20 minutes<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">COOK TIME<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>20 minutes<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TOTAL TIME<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>40 minutes<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Ingredients for the Dough<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">60g golden syrup<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1\/4 tsp lye water (kansui)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">24g vegetable oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">100g cake flour<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Ingredients for the Filling<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10 salted egg yolk<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">220g store-bought lotus paste\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Egg wash to brush the mooncake<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Let\u2019s Start Baking!<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take a mixing bowl and pour golden syrup, lye water, and vegetable oil, until well combined.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sieve the flour and pour on top of this mixture, all at once.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Combine all the ingredients and place the dough on a piece of cling wrap. Let the dough relax for a while as you refrigerate it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now for the filling, wash salted egg yolks with water. And ensure to remove the white sticking to the yolk.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pat dry. Now wrap the egg yolk with lotus paste.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then roll it into a ball and set it aside.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the wrapping stage, in between two plastic sheets or cling wraps, roll out the pastry.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now removing the icing wraps from the top, roll the pastry towards the fillings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pinch away the excess pastry, wherever the pastry is double folded to ensure consistent thickness.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now roll the mooncake with your palms to form a ball.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dust the surface with flour and then roll the mooncake on it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dip the piston of the mould to the flour and shake off the excess.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now place the doughs on a baking tray.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dip the piston downward, as you put the mooncake mould on the dough.
